Victim Within The Criminal Justice System Criminology Essay

Casualty Within The Criminal Justice System Criminology Essay A guilty party is a blamed respondent who is sentenced for a genuine wrongdoing and who is set to show up under the steady gaze of the criminal court. There are 37.2 guilty parties altogether in Ireland. 38.1 of them are male and 32 of them are female. There are 53.6% of individuals matured under 18 who perpetrate wrongdoings. 33.5% of guilty parties get network administration and 39.3% are out on a sort of probation request. The most great measurement was that 63% of guilty parties didn't re-insult inside two years.â [2]â A casualty is somebody who has been hurt or influenced by an offense brought about by someone else. Survivors of brutal wrongdoing may endure budgetary worry just as experiencing their wounds and enthusiastic injury. Recouping from savagery or misuse can have impact on them for the remainder of their lives as they could live in fear and endure uneasiness. Loads of individuals are stunned after a wrongdoing and how they feel inwardly. Propositions feelings can have numerous impacts and can leave you feeling troubled and befuddled. Furthermore, this can likewise influence loved ones around you, your feelings can affect them as they will be worried for you. Albeit numerous individuals feel that they must have the option to adapt to this passionate weight and are required to experience their every day lives as though nothing has occurred, most casualties will require directing to grapple with what has happened.â [3]â For this paper we have decided to discuss the casualty as we might suspect the casualty endures the most truly and inwardly. The survivor of a wrongdoing can require advising to assist them with grappling with their feelings and fears. Conversation There are a wide range of ways an individual can be a casualty. Somebody can be a casualty for anything from a minor wrongdoing up to a significant wrongdoing. Instances of where somebody can be a casualty are from burglary, theft, thievery, ambush, hazardous driving, sexual offenses, murder and homicide and human trafficking. [4] In numerous instances of wrongdoing it isn't only the casualty that can be influenced, their family can likewise be influenced, all the more so in the significant wrongdoing instances of perilous driving, sexual offenses, murder and homicide. As we recently referenced, there are numerous sorts of casualties with regards to wrongdoing, and for the most part the people job inside, and there point of view of the criminal equity framework will change depending of the conditions of each case. For instance someone squeezing charges for something minor, for example, vandalism will expect far less extreme outcomes than state someone who has been the survivor of assault. Additionally we noticed that there was a stunning measure of assault wrongdoing really announced in this nation, The Dublin Rape Crisis Center recorded 11,839 calls to their helplines, with more than 9,000 of them being veritable, so when we understood the difficult that exists with assault in this nation we concluded we would utilize assault cases as the primary point of convergence of our gathering paper.â [5]â Assault cases can vary a ton from another sort of case .For instance while preliminaries all in all occur out in the open in our state, assault cases will be held in camera, in order to ensure the casualties secrecy. In some genuine cases also, for example, assault, plans might be made so the denounced doesn't need to show up in court alongside the charged, and may rather be permitted to give proof by means of a video connect from another territory of the courts.â [6]â In assault cases this would be of specific advantage to the person in question, who because of the delicate idea of the wrongdoing and the horrendous experience they have just experienced may discover the possibility of encountering their aggressors in the court excessively overwhelming and not be capable for it. Report the wrongdoing The casualty should report the wrongdoing to the police when the wrongdoing has happened. At the point when a casualty reports a wrongdoing rapidly after the wrongdoing has happened it permits the police to assemble any proof that may blur over the long run. Brief detailing will bolster the casualties record of what occurred. Numerous survivors of rape are uncertain whether they need a case to be arraigned. Casualties who are uncertain about indictment are encouraged to look for data about direction to settle on an educated choice. For instance, regardless of whether the casualty isn't prepared to arraign following the wrongdoing, investigators have at any rate six years or more to record rape charges. It is imperative to take note of that regardless of whether a wrongdoing isn't promptly announced, that indictment may in any case be conceivable. A postponement in revealing is common for security reasons. [7] The job of a casualty is critical in the Criminal equity framework. The y should experience various stages in the criminal preliminary procedure so as to feel equity was served. The primary stage is really detailing the wrongdoing. This can be hard for some as there are various questions in their brains. For example, trust in the gardai, relate the subtleties and so on. It assessed in 2007 that around 30 percent of robberies were unreported, as were almost four of every 10 episodes of burglary with brutality. Offenses of a sexual sort and aggressive behavior at home are terribly under-recorded [8] This is surprising and extremely stressing for our criminal equity framework. Protect of proof On the off chance that a wrongdoing is accounted for, the police will accumulate and keep the entirety of the proof from the wrongdoing, which incorporates: bloodstained attire, bedding, weapons and harm to property. The police will likewise take photos of wounds, harm to property and furthermore photos of where the wrongdoing happened. Photos ought to likewise be taken of the casualties wounds after the wrongdoing to show the phases of recuperating. Affirm In the event that the case continues to preliminary, casualties ought to hope to affirm. Grown-up casualties: Testimony is less formal before the fantastic jury than in a court setting. The excellent Jury procedures are private. Theyre one on one with the examiner and the person in question. The Prosecutor asks the casualty inquiries so as to get a comprehension of the case. This declaration just keeps going about 60 minutes. Affirming at preliminary is increasingly formal. The casualty needs to hold up outside the court until it is her an opportunity to affirm. The examiner will ask the casualty inquiries first. At that point the guard lawyer investigates the person in question. The appointed authorities job is to likewise ensure that the inquiries posed by the lawyers are suitable as indicated by lawful guidelines. There is no set time on the length of a preliminary declaration. The examiner will help the casualty on setting them up for the sorts of inquiries that might be posed. The casualty witness supporter will help the casualty on guaranteeing the emotions that she may bring out on affirming and assists with giving the casualty all the help that she may require in making it a less startling circumstance. Now and again criminal arraignments go in the kindness of the casualty as the guilty party may confess to everything. This implies the casualty doesnt need to affirm in court. Kid Victims: Young youngsters are normally posed inquiries by the Judge. The appointed authority must be content that the youngster comprehends the legitimate principles of a court and the promise where it is fundamental that he/she should come clean. The court can be a frightening spot for a youngster this is the reason the appointed authority guarantees that the kid can deal with testifying.â [9]â Squeezing charges A few casualties may by and by realize the speculate that perpetrated the wrongdoing against them. Some might be connected, for example, a mother and child relationship. For this situation it is difficult for the casualties to decision between looking for equity and doing what is best for both the crook and themselves. Going to court The following stage the casualty experiences is the legal dispute. This is without a doubt the most overwhelming experience for the person in question. Especially for kid misuse cases and assault cases. On account of Frances Andrade, she along these lines murdered herself in the wake of giving proof in court. She said it wanted to get assaulted once more. She was explicitly manhandled by her music educator when she was in school. At the point when it came around to giving proof she felt that describing the subtleties in a court climate was more regrettable for her than the assault itself. Andrade killed herself the day after she heard her abuser giving his side of the story. Notwithstanding, some may state that by permitting the casualty giving proof they feel that they are taking part in looking for equity for themselves. End We have talked about in detail the job and point of view of the casualty in the criminal equity framework so as to look for equity. We as a gathering collectively feel that the job of the casualty in the criminal equity framework is essential for accepting the equity they merit. From rundown and indictable to genuine offenses, equity must be served for each situation and the job and viewpoint of the casualty is significant in conveying equity.

A Raisin In The Sun Essay Dreams Example For Students

A Raisin In The Sun Essay Dreams I really enjoyed the movie A Raisin in the Sun. It follows a black familys struggle to reach their long anticipated dreams. These dreams, and the struggles necessary to attain them, is one of the main focuses of the movie. The movie began with a husband, Walter, and wife, Ruth, fighting over Walters dream to make it in the business world by using an insurance check as a down payment on opening a liquor store. He believes that if someone in the family would just listen to him and put forth their trust, his dreams would become a success. This episode illustrates a major conflict throughout the story. As Walter dreams bigger and bigger he seems to leave the smaller things, such as his family behind. This movement away from the family is against the advancement of the values and morals of the family. The storys ending presents a view of how standing by long term family goals and values provides a sense of unity that can overcome any obstacle and keep the pride of the family alive. Once Mama receives the insurance money, she believes that the best thing to do with it is buy a new house for her family. At first she is very adamant against giving any of the insurance money to Walter because she believes that his uses for the money will not benefit the family. But, as time progress Mama sees how upset her son his because none of the family members will back his dream, so she gives him the money left over after buying the house to spend on his dream. However, Walters deal falls through and he is faced with an even more challenging task. He is faced with the job of talking with the head of the Welcoming Committee of their new white neighborhood and pretending to be the stereotypical inferior black so that the Welcoming Committee will buy the familys new house for a large amount of mone y. But as the time draws near for Walter to put his pride away, he realizes with the help of the family that no amount of money can make up for the loss of pride and that it is sometimes better to sacrifice the goals of one for the good of many. So Walter tells the gentleman from the Welcoming Committee that they are not interested in selling their house to any white folks. This bold and unselfish move helps to father the familys long standing ethics, values, and pride. A Raisin in the Sun powerfully illustrates the idea that holding on to ethics, values, and pride is sometimes the most difficult option, but is the most fulfilling and helps to make other challenges easier.

The Golden Door To America Essays - Demography, Population

The Golden Door To America Writen by Randy j 11/24/00 I wrote this paper for Political Life 1110 Should America Close the Golden Door? America has, is, and will always be a nation of immigrants: the great melting pot. In the years that have passed since Emma Lazarus' poem was inscribed on the Statue of Liberty ?the golden door? has seen times when it was open wide and times when it was closed shut to almost all immigrants. Many people tend to look at the present immigration problems as a purely modern dilemma. The truth is America has always struggled with the issue of immigration, both legal and illegal. Changing times however make it imperative that our government re-examine and adjust today's immigration laws to today's standards. Those standards however are not easily defined. All too often the issue of immigration is used as a political tool or is lost in heated moral debates. In any discussion about immigration you will have those who claim it is good for our nation and those who claim it is ruining the nation. More often than not the bottom line in any debate of this sort is money; will more or less immigration mean more or less money for those already in America. The moral debates come down to a question of who we are as a nation and how we want the rest of the world to perceive Americans. If this great country was forged and built by immigrants passing through ?the golden door? , then how can this same country turn away new immigrants. The inscription on the Statue of Liberty invites all to enter, yet not all are allowed to enter. Immigration has become a selective process with many gray areas. Now Americans are faced with a new dilemma; the nation must decide not whether it is willing to accept new immigrants, but whether it can afford new immigrants. All new immigrant, both legal and illegal must be considered in this equation. Congress can attempt to ease the burden of legal immigration by passing restrictive laws and only allowing in those who they believe will become self-sufficient. Congress must also find a way to slow the flow of illegal i mmigration by enforcing the laws already in place. What this paper will attempt to do is bring the immigration issue into perspective. America most certainly has immigration problems but they will not be fixed by eliminating immigration all together. In fact, America will never totally eliminate immigration, because no matter how tightly the door is closed some illegal immigrants will get through. As long as America continues to be seen as a nation of prosperity, opportunity, and freedom there will be those who wish to come to America. Immigrants have always come to America looking for a better life and Americans are always forgetting that their forefathers were once looking for that same life. As a nation there must be a decision on whether immigration is an issue of conscience or economics. History of Immigration Laws Though most Americans see immigration as a modern problem it has been heavily debated since the 19th century. Throughout most of America's history immigration was se en as a natural process that benefited the nation (Divine 2). Until the 1890's there were no clearly defined policies on immigration. During this time the country started questioning the economic benefits of more immigrants, so things have note changed in that respect. In May 1921, the first bill in American history restricted European immigration and created the quota system (Divine 5). This turn toward restriction could be justified by the downward turn in the economy. Who could argue for more immigrants when the nation's own citizens couldn't find work. The slowing economy and the ?spirit of intense nationalism? in the United States at this time made immigration a hot topic (Divine 23). After the depression hit everyone was in agreement that there was a ?need to limit immigration,? of course the extent of those limits were not easily agreed upon (Divine 77). World War II brought with it a new set of immigrants, and eventually the passing of the Displaced Persons Act of 1947. This allowed immigrants, displaced by the war to enter

Correction for Essay

Correction for Essay Correction for Essay Avery Anderson Period 3 November 2014 Family influences how people think and feel about the world around them, because people spend the most time with their family. In â€Å"By Any Other Name†, Santha Rau and her sister Premila went to the Anglo Indian day school in Zorinabad. They are exposed to British ways of thinking, which conflicts with the way their family taught them how to think about themselves and the world around them. This causes confusion and apathy in Santha. When Santha is given her new name Cynthia, she gets confused about who she is because her family already gave her a name. The teacher asks Santha to introduce her-self by saying her name in front of the class, she simply says â€Å"I don’t know† (Rau 36) and takes a seat. Since Santha was already taught by her mother the basics they were learning in class, she wasn’t really paying attention. She writes, â€Å"most of that morning I was bored †¦ the lessons were mostly concerned with reading and writing – things my mother had already taught me† (Rau 37). Santha saw herself as the identity that her family gave her as a kid. When that was changed by the British it caused confusion, because she lost sight of what she thought her identity was. Also her mom already taught her how to read and write, causing her to be bored because she already knew what was being taught. In â€Å"An Indian Father’s Plea†, Robert Lake is defending his son Wind-Wolf from being labeled as a slow learner. Wind-Wolf is not a slow learner but was taught the Cherokee way of viewing the world by his family. Wind-Wolf was taught differently by his family speaking things verbally. His dad expresses to the teacher that â€Å"he may have trouble writing his name on a piece

Investigation of the impact of recruitment and selection strategies Term Paper

Investigation of the impact of recruitment and selection strategies and criteria over the organizational performance - Term Paper Example The findings of this study demonstrated profound support for the model that signifies that the HR policies are positively and directly related to the overall performance of the bank along with having a statistically strong impact over it since R square has been found to be equal to 70.2 percent. The evaluation of various cross sectional studies further revealed that the participation of the employees in the process of decision making has the most significant impact of the HR policies over the performance of the organization. However, this is not being implemented extensively. This may be due to nature of the jobs in the banks that are generally risky, critical and systematic or because of the cultural behavior discouraging the participation of the employees in the process of decision making. This study, toward its end, recommended that the Masraf Al-Rayyan Bank, in particular, as well as the other banks operating in Qatar should emphasize more over the training and development strate gy for developing the skills, knowledge and capabilities of the employees. Particularly, they should pay more attention on the structure and content of the appropriate training and development programs. Atlas, it was suggested that any research in the future will aim to investigate the issues encountered during the implementation of the desired HR policies in Banks and other organizations in Qatar as well as in other Arab countries. Introduction The world of business has been extensively affected by the globalization as it has now turned into an intricate set of networks and inter-links having the objective to enhance the performance of an organization operating under a specific system. In many bureaucratic organizations, the employee position is indicated and arranged in a hierarchical manner. Due to this, the bureaucratic theory was brought in to existence in the nineteenth century by Max Weber. The concept behind the bureaucratic theory was to help the organizations in becoming more efficient and to be based upon legitimate authority and logic. In the period of 1920’s, the concentration shifted on the human element of the workplace that was considered as significantly affecting the management perspectives. The Hawthorne study is one these human approaches that was carried out in 1924 at the Western Electric Company. The Hawthorne study proposed that the productivity of the em ployees can be easily increased by treating them in a positive manner. Also, that study emphasized over the aspect of human interactions in the workplace. The theory of human needs by Maslow also included the human-based approaches. Maslow organized these requirements in a hierarchical manner in accordance to significance and priority. Maslow put the physiological requirement of the people that included food, water, etc. at the bottom level of the hierarchical pyramid. Then comes the safety

How surface area of vanes effect Essay Example for Free

How surface area of vanes effect Essay Hypothesis I predict that by increasing the surface area of the vanes on the wind vane, I will increase the air resistance therefore slowing the rate at which the weight will drop. Primary Work If a piece of paper and a marble are in free fall, they will fall at the same speed, so they should hit the ground at the same time. If you test this by just dropping a marble and a piece of paper you will find it is not true. This is because the objects are not in free fall. To be in free fall, gravity has to be the only force acting on the objects. When you just drop something, there is also air resistance. Air resistance is a type of fluid friction. Because friction acts in the opposite direction of the objects motion, air resistance of an object falling downward is an upward force. This is because a falling object is coming down, so the opposite direction is up. If air resistance were equal for every object, objects would still fall at the same rate. Since we know they do not fall at the same rate, we know air resistance is different for different objects. The amount of air resistance acting on an object depends on the objects surface area. If an object has a small surface area, it will have little air resistance. Because the piece of paper has a larger surface area than the marble, the marble will have less air resistance than the piece of paper and the paper will fall slower. This is what I expect to happen with a wind vane. As the wind vane turns, air resistance will act on each of the separate vanes. By increasing the surface area of the vanes, I will increase the air resistance therefore making the rate at which the weight drops slower, because there is more opposing force. Theory Newtons law of gravity and Galileos freefall theory state that objects of any mass will fall to the ground at the same time if in a complete vacuum i. e. space, if not in a complete vacuum i. e. earth, they will fall at different times because of air resistance (and weight). The air resistance depends on the surface area of the object, the larger the surface area, the more amount of air resistance. In the case of a wind vane, the objects dropping are the separate vanes. Plan Of Experiment I will drop a 15g weight from a piece of string; this string will be attached to an axel which is further attached to a wind vane. Firstly the string will be coiled around the axel then when let go, the weight will drop and the wind vane will turn to create opposing force. I will time the rate at which it falls. My dependant factor will be the time the weight takes to hit the table. My independent factor will be the surface area of the vanes. To ensure a fair test, my controls will be the distance from the table and the weight of the falling object. Apparatus   Stand Clamp 20g Weight 55cm of String   Axel   Cork With Equal Slits For Vanes   Card For Vanes   Stopwatch Method 1. I will set up the equipment as shown below. 2. I will cut out 6 vanes with a certain surface area and put them into their corresponding slits in the cork. 3. I will coil the string attached to the weight around the axel and then drop it. I will time the time it takes for the weight to hit the table and record my results. 4. I will repeat the experiment for accuracy of results Results Surface Area (cm) 1st Try (secs) 2nd Try (secs) Average (2. d. p) 3 1. 8 1. 6 1. 7 4 2. 4 2. 3 2. 35 5 3. 2 3. 4 3. 3 6 3. 9 3. 7 3. 8 7 4. 4 4. 3 4. 35 8 4. 7 4. 5 4. 6 9 5. 4 5. 7 5. 55 10 6. 3 6. 5 6. 4 Graph Of Averages = Line Of Best Fit Conclusion I have found that I was right in my hypothesis in thinking that the larger the surface area of the vanes on a wind vane, the more time it takes for a weight attached to it by means of an axel to fall. This was because, as stated in my theory and primary work, the surface area increased the amount of air resistance and this force opposed gravity which was pulling the weight down, therefore making it travel slower. This is shown in my graph as a positive correlation. Evaluation I had no major anomalous results, this was down to accurate measuring and because I kept my experiment fair. After doing this experiment I would like to be able to calculate the actual amount of air resistance created by a wind vane and see if there is any relationship between surface area and amount of air resistance.

Politics and Political Sciences :: Political Governmental Essays

Politics and Political Sciences What is political science? It is the study of the mechanism that people employ for their protection, better known as a government. When looking up the word government in the dictionary the word authority is used repeatedly. To many people the type and extent of authority over them is very important. So, which is the best kind of government? Is it the monarch or the republic? It is important to look at the difference between monarchs and republics and how they came about. Monarchies are usually run by a king or queen. These rulers are heads of the government because of birth. Of course, not all monarchs are the same, some are more powerful than others. There are three kinds of monarchs limited, constitutional, and an absolute. The least powerful of the group is the limited monarch. They usually have no political power and are just a historical figure. The country is run by the prime minister. A good example of this is England. Queen Elizabeth makes public appearances and ceremonies. The truth is she has no decisions in political decisions. She can not make laws of or deal with any similar issue, but is still a very important part of England's tradition. There can be different titles in different countries. For example in Japan the Emperor is like the king or queen of England. The constitutional monarch has more powers than the limited monarch, but they are restricted. The countries constitution puts the king, queen, prime minister, and parliament below the law. They can make laws and policies or veto, however, parliament must give their consent. Some countries that are constitutional monarchs are Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. The final and most powerful monarchs are absolute monarchs. In these countries The king or queen have absolute control over the country. At one time all monarchs used to be absolute. The king or queen is the law, the Parliament can suggest ideas but he or she has the final say. Absolute powers today include Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, however, in these countries the head authority is called the Amir. The other form of government is a republic. In the dictionary it is that said that a republic is a form of government where the power is in the citizens who are allowed to elect their representation. However, it is better said, a country without a king or queen and is not a monarch because not all republics are the same.

The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe Essay - 1693 Words

The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe In The Cask of Amontillado, Edgar Allan Poe uses several different artistic choices in the construction of the story. He manipulates the story to be the way he wants it to be by using the point of view of the narrator, the setting, and a common monotonous sentiment throughout. Poe is successful in maintaining a spirit of perverseness that is prevalent in most of his works. The point of view plays a very important role in influencing the readers perception of the story. The first line of the story is a good example of how the narrator attempts to bring the reader to his side right from the start. The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could, but when he ventured upon†¦show more content†¦Even his most prized skill, wine tasting, is described as a weak point. This puts Fortunato at a major disadvantage in the fight for the readers liking, and ultimately the fight for his life. As in most Poe stories, the narrator tries to steer the reader away from seeing the perverseness of his actions. In The Cask of Amontillado, Montresor tries to convince the reader that walling up Fortunato is his way making himself felt as such to him who has done the wrong (O’Neill 669). In reality, Poe tells the story from Montresors point of view in order to increase the astonishment and perverseness that the reader feels when reading the story. Edgar Allan Poe uses the setting in many different ways in his various works. There are two primary settings in The Cask of Amontillado, the carnival and the catacombs. There are several reasons that make the carnival the ideal setting for Poe to lure Fortunato away. It was about dusk, one evening during the supreme madness of the carnival season, that I encountered my friend (O’Neill 666). This sentence contains two important details as to why the carnival is a perfect setting for Montresors undertakings.
